Juan Padrón Blanco
>(Matanzas, January 29th, 1947)


He took his degree in Art History at the University of Havana. Caricaturist, cartoon producer, illustrator, comic strip maker and scriptwriter, whose work first appeared in the Mella student supplement. He worked as a cameraman in the film department of the FAR (Revolutionary Armed Forces). In 1970 appears for the first time in the Pionero magazine his popular character Elpidio Valdés. He begins to work in the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinema Art and Industry) in 1974 as a cartoons director. He is also the creator of the humorous cartoons serials called
FILMINUTO (filminute) and QUINOSCOPIO (quinoscope), this last in collaboration with the Argentinian cartoonist Quino, the creator of Mafalda. He is a member of the UNEAC (National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists). He produces his first movie in 1979. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the UNEAC.

1969- 1973 DDT humorous supplement (with some occasional later collaborations)
1978- 1979 He collaborates with the Prisma and Cuba Internacional magazines (with some occasional later collaborations)

His works have been published, through the Agencia Prensa Latina in other Latin-American countries like Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, among others.
